This section explains in details how your file will appear. Most customers don't find the need to modify our standard format, but you're welcome to request a special layout at no additional cost.  You will continue receiving your data in the same layout (standard or customized) unless changed at your request or seldom due to system upgrades. We also output files into "fixed width" or "flat file" lay out as well, click here for detailed specification of such file.

Standard format
A separate file is generated for business filings and a separate one for individual filings (this can NOT be changed), but the remaining parameter of the layout can be customized at no additional cost to suit your needs.  If you do not request a special layout (as explained here) you'll receive our standard format explained below:
ASCII comma delimited, all upper case.   Businesses will be sorted (ascending) by business names, and individuals by last name (ascending). A separate file for businesses and a separate one for individuals (this can NOT be changed). The header names are shown below.

Available data formats
Following data formats are available.  You'll receive your files in ASCII comma delimited if you don't request a special format.
  • dBase 5
  • dBase III
  • dBase IV
  • Microsoft Excel 3 (limited to 60,000 records per file)
  • Microsoft Excel 4 (limited to 60,000 records per file)

  • Text/ASCII files (tab delimited or comma delimited), comma delimited is our standard format.

Headers
The "header" is the title of each field and it appears as the first row of your file. You may request to have the name of the header changed at no additional cost.  You can not use spaces, or any characters (except underscore or hyphen) in the header section.  The header section is in upper case. This document is to only depict the header names, and is NOT a guarantee of the type of information you will  receive.  Please advise your representative, or review the detailed data pages to see a list of information you will receive with each data type. The headers will appear exactly as shown below in proper case, in the order shown below (the order may also be changed at your request).  Text in parenthesis are comments and will NOT be part of your header.

Sorting
If not specified your files will be sorted in the default format.
  • Default format: Ascending (A to Z) based on "last names" for individual files, and "company name" in ascending order for business files.
  • Customized sorting: You may select up to 5 fields to sort your data.  Each field can be in ascending or descending order.
